An integral part of ARCA Partners' mission is environmental protection. Many areas face unsafe drinking water, growing desertification and overall pollution. One way that ARCA Partners is combating these issues is through a tree planting effort, best exemplified by our Holetta project. Holetta is located 29 kilometers west of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. In an attempt to improve the lives of the people of Holetta, churches joined together with local government and the community in a tree planting effort. Together they planted over 90,000 trees, 80% surviving the first few months since planting.

The effort has a double pronged purpose:

To educate the people of Holetta on the benefits of improving the environment and keeping their homes & community clean.

The project has been a great success on both fronts.
